Black oiled sunflower seeds?

My kids could care less about them. But the cardinals, sparrows, blue birds etc... are enjoying them. So, I keep tossing them out like a pot luck for whatever bird wants to have a snack.

The seed shell would be crushed up by the grit in the gizzard/crop of the bird, like all other food a chicken or bird eats. That is why grit is of the utmost importance to a chicken.

I feed them whole. The birds love them and give me dirty looks if I run out. I've noticed that as long as I add them, I don't see blood on the eggs.

ROTFL nice analogy

Mine eat them with the shell, but they seem to eat anything. As I keep telling the cats, beware those chickens will eat anything including you.
