The dosage I used for Corid was 1.25 ml/ liter
A half gallon is just under 1 liter (.95 L) and 1.25 ml is 1/4 of a teaspoon. So 1/4 teaspoon for .5 gallon is what I used for 5 days, making up fresh each day. Don't you just hate trying to figure out dosages??? All of these drugs are being used off label, or they are written out for 100 gallons at a time.
I wish I knew more about withdrawal times, it seems like two weeks is the amount of time used when people are unsure. But that is my guess, not fact by any means, I would search BYC. I hope your chicks are feeling better soon!
There is no withdrawal with Corid, eggs and meat are safe to eat before, during and after treatment. One of the more experienced BYC'ers explained it once.
i have the soluble powder. the correct way to do this would be to make a small stock solution and aliquot from it. i don't have a balance that weighs in 1/10th grams.
i would guess that one tablespoon per gallon will be okay. when will i see the crusted poop/blood disappear off the feathers? i have not paid attention to their preening habits and not sure if they preen back there.
what is the period i must wait on tetracycline before consuming eggs?
is there a place to order just two or three chicken blinders? we have one that is causing all kinds of problems with the other chickens and other pets.
I thought you were using corid? with antibiotics I believe its at least 2 weeks maybe more. you will probably need to clean their feathers for them, you can also trim their feathers a bit too keep it from sticking as bad. Theres no withdrawl from using corid.
Miss Lydia,
before starting the corid, i was using tetracyline. i stopped using that today in order to finish out a 10 day dose.
Yeah, this is the second time they've been sick. i'm thinking to get rid of them and just buy store bought free-range eggs. they are causing problems with the dogs, pooping all over everything and now this sickness again. they are so enjoyable though we may keep them. it'd be hard trusting Tweety with someone else. maybe we'll just keep that fruitcake and give the others away. He (now known to be a She) poops in the egg box for about an hour a day, then lays an egg in the yard. when she gets pecked, she always fights back with vigor, but usually in the wrong direction. she doesn't have a clue there are other chickens around. or so it seems. plus, she doesn't start fights with the dogs or seem to know they are even there.
