Black on baby roo comb, falling off

What is this??
Black park of comb looks like it is going to fall off. Im in GA we are in a heat wave so there is no chance of frost bite. Chicks are 10 weeks old. My kids found this tonight when closing up the coop.

Is the roo going to die?
Are there meds needed?

Could be an injury or possibly fowl pox. Wait and watch. For now nothing to be too worried about.

It does look sorta like a wound. Can you try to get pictures of it tomorrow in daylight?

It looks like an injury to me, I see bleeding too, if anything I would wash with saline solution and apply Hibiclens, Betadine,Neospirin or triple antibiotic, with gloves to enure it doesn't get an infection , and watch poor baby. I would keep him warm 70-85 degrees if it is an injury in hospital ward where you can watch him closer. Make sure he is eating and drinking, and you can give him electrolytes to help give him a boost.

We did add triple antibiotic before returning him to the coop

It looks better now that you've cleaned it I think. How's he acting today? Eating, drinking, pooping normal?

Is there a string wrapped around the top of the comb, just below the base of the constriction? It almost looks like there is.

No string.. white is the skin..

Do your chickens stick their heads through the fence to get at stuff on the other side? I've seen this happen before with wire fencing... just a random guess
