This is a young black pullet that is as tall as Blue Boy my blue Roo. She is as wide as him too.

This is my mottled Orp cockeral. He is 6 months old and very lanky and tall right now. He looks like he is saying to that silkie " Want to come out and play?"

Thanks, I am going to put him in over the blacks and try to bring the white down a bit in the coloring. I learned a lot at the chickens show about breeding Mottleds from a cochin breeder who has mottleds. Of course he is not perfert in type for me but I am hoping these big butted girls will make a difference

Do you have RIR and NHR hens?
Which do you like better, the RIR or the NHR for egg laying?

Thank you,

Ann

I actually have no Idea which one lays what cause it is very important to me so I don't pay attention to which hen lays what. Personally I like the NHRs better they are a bit more socialible(sp?) and aren't as common as the RIRs.

I have RIR's but it has been a long time since I owned a NHR. Both are good layers, it is just that I am partial to dark red mahogany color chickens. I like things really pretty and classy looking. Ha Ha
