Black Orpington/Light Sussex cross?

I accquired the rooster from SadieSue a few months ago. Here is the picture of him at 6 months old. He is Black Orpington x Light Sussex.

Oh, he is very good looking!

I wonder how the hen turned out. She definitely looked like a marans chick.

How nice to see a recent photo of the rooster! Thank you Speedy2020 for posting that. I do have more recent pics of his sister, who did indeed turn out to be the Marans/Light Sussex cross. She has feathered legs and copper around her neck. She has filled out nicely but she's nowhere the size of her Orpington/Sussex half brother! How is that rooster working for you Speedy? Is he breeding your hens yet? Is he still good natured? He wasn't much of a crower while he was here. I only heard him crow a few times and that was when he was wanting my daughter or I to come out and give them treats!

I'll have to locate more photos of my hen now that she's grown, but in the meantime here is what the rooster looked like at around 4 months. He still had some growing to do. Handsome boy.

He crow a few times a month, which made my neighbor happy. He's currently weight 8.07lbs and expect to gain another 1-2lb when full grown. I only seen him mate the hens a few times. He seems to like the food more than the hens or young chick. My hope he will mellow out as he get older.

I thought I put the last photo of him at 11 months with his offspring chick so some members can use for future reference. He weight a little over 10 lbs and seems to be little larger than the descendant of GreenFire Farm rooster.
