Black Rose Comb hen, good enough to show?

I think I might have 2 hens out of 4 I got that I might take to a show coming up. My roo is just too old and not that good in the "ear lobe" department. So what about this hen?

Here is the group. They look like a bunch of little nuns to me.

i haven't been around rosecombs.. nor know anything about them.. but the SQ rose combs i've seen look pretty close to those hens.. perhaps urban coyote can come along and correct me

Most definitely. They're all nice. Watch the face color though, the first hen has a dark face, it should be bright red. Nice tail though.

I don't like the "group" shot. The angle on the tail looks like production birds when they are like that.

As long as they "pose" like the first 2 pictures when the judge looks at them, they should do alright. I don't like the color of their faces, makes them look like they are still in a molt, or that the white from their earlobes is coming into their faces.

They are good Rosecombs for sure. That said, they are not in show condition right now. The females all have pale faces & their feathers are rough. Also the leg colour is a little lighter than it really should be. I assume they are all older birds which is what they appear to be.
They are certainly birds worth breeding from & if that is your plan you have the foundation for a very good flock of Black Rosecombs. I think their true potential is as breeders not show birds. If you decide to show them anyway, which is certainly your perogative, don't be discouraged if they don't do well in competition, their offspring should do very well.

I do believe they are all older birds, but do not know how old. I can find out though.

Hey...as long as you've got them...why NOT show them? There is never any harm in putting a bird in a show just to see what happens.
