Black scab, lethargic chicken

I’m brand new (3 weeks) into chicken keeping. I have 3 Rhode Island Reds who are about 4/5 months old. They are not laying eggs. They have been huddling together in the corners of the run and coop, they don’t roost, sometimes I spy them walking around when I’m not around. I chalked this all up to stress of new environment, change of location/handler. I have minimized handling per the chicken lady I bought from while they are acclimating here.

Today I noticed that they were crowded around one chicken who appeared to be snoozing. Then they would nudge her awake. I took a closer look and saw the black bump on her comb and a few on her wattle (see pic). I looked at her behind and there was a small amount of dried poop there. I’m wondering if this is pox? Or something more concerning? There have been intermittent coughs. I did not notice any scabs on her beak and she isn’t have issues breathing.

I feel so discouraged and worried I’ve done something wrong. I live in central Texas- it’s hot here. Lots of mosquitos. The coop is old from previous home’s owners but hasn’t had any chickens in it for several years. I clean it out as best I could, added hay for the deep litter method. I use the Strong Chicken elixir in their water for immune support.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Welcome to BYC.

Why did you buy these chickens?
Coughing is not good.

What exactly do you feed them?

I feed Hugelland non GMO feed.
I bought them from a local lady that does this as a business. I knew some other people that have had success with buying from her. I thought as a new person, maybe an older chicken would be easier to learn.
