We are so happy and excited to once again get pullets. 12 Black sex links this time around. Past experiences the girls spent the first several weeks in our laundry room. Actually at that time our chicken coop contained our washer and dryer. Lol!! The encouragement of this site, back yard chicken and the guy at the feed store blessed us to try something different. Outside and doing great more room to fly, safe inside yard, shade and most of all being chicks. After all they're chickens.

I think every year I move my birds out sooner, my last batch of quail moved to the grow out coop at 1 1/2 weeks old, although I only did it because they took themselves off heat after the first week. I still put a heat plate in the top level to give them a warm place to get dry, it's been raining non-stop! I'm getting ready to finish up our first outdoor brooder for the eggs I have incubating now. Better for them and for my indoor air quality!
