Black Snake in Chicken Coop - Advice Please!!!

Hmmm... Ok, so he comes gets an egg or two than darts off. I guess hanging in the coop would not be the best place for a snake.

We mowed the backyard tonight so hopefully that chased him off. We don't have any other buildings near the coop that he could hide under.
There are gardens that he could probably tuck away in, but the chickens are in those too. Maybe he just got the idea and got while the getting was good.

I locked up the girls tonight, I hope that it is not in there, if it is then the girls will have fresh meat for breakfast in the morning.
Funny story, my grandparents use to have a Black Rat Snake which they named "Blackie" under their house. They welcomed it because it ate the mice and never really bothered anything!
Snakes like big rocks, sheds, wood piles, and logs. I've lost count of the skins I've found in our woodshed! He should rest for a couple days before he comes back to get another egg, so you'll probably have time to seal up his entry ways. It can be very hard to keep snakes out, as they can completely flatten their bodies, but there are ways!

That is funny. I am looking into getting a humaine snake trap to catch him then release him far, far, far from here. Hopefully that will work.
I don't want him eating the eggs that the girls lay, I am sure they will feel better if a snake is not bunking with them.
