black spot on the cone of my rooster

I have noticed that my rooster has black spots on his cone. I was just wondering if it is some kind of disease and if my other chickens can catch it? And if anyone knows a cure for it.

Is it like a scab on his comb? It might just be from fighting, that's the usual cause.

mosquitos, they bite them and they get Poultry pox, not dangerous, but looks upgly. I usually leave my girls combs alone but have installed a bug light in the coop.

It's called Fowl Pox and is carried by mosquitos. It can get a bit ugly but rarely turns into anything serious. There is dry fowl pox and wet fowl pox. The wet type is more serious...even deadly...and gets in their mouth and throat.

Typically, the black spot kind is the dry pox.

It may be nothing more than peck marks and dried blood. Unless the spots are wart like, I would not say it's fowl pox.
