I have been away from home for a bit and noticed today one roster in a flock of roughly 20 birds had little black spot on his comb. It has not really been cold enough for frost bite and I inspected the other birds and only 1 other hen has the same spot but may 4 or 5. Not sure if it mites or lice or something else? Our first year with chickens so any advice is appreciated.

Is it too cold for mosquitos?
Could be dry pox...harmless virus that will resolve on it's own within a few weeks or so.

Could also just be dirt stuck in that funky comb......or peck wounds.

Great pic BTW.
