Hi there! I'm getting my first hens tomorrow (a beautiful laying flock of 8 ladies) and picked up my rooster today. But he has black spots on his comb! The woman said she thought it was frostbite, but I don't want to introduce my brand new girls to a sick rooster. Can anyone confirm this is frostbite and not pox? I have a bad feeling this is not frostbite... And should I try to find a place for him away from the hens until I can find someone to take him. I really don't want to get any hens sick.

Oops! Sorry this went to New Member Intros. I meant to post in the appropriate forum. Doh!

I'm getting my first chickens tomorrow and I've used this page as a research resource and figured it was about time I join. Thanks!!!

I think it is fowl pox also, frostbite wouldn't be spread around so much, even near his beak. He would mainly have the tips of his comb blackened because they are farthest from the heat source (his head)

Would the lady take him back?
