Black swedish with green? *New pics on bottom of page*

It's a mystery to me. Cute duck though. You may have to wait until he gets his "big boy" feathers before you have a better idea.

Thanks, thats good to know

Most black ducks, especially drakes, will have some green on them. Near the head, back and base of the tail.

No worries, he's a nice duck.

My black Indian Runner had green all over him to, he was very shiny.

I have a swede but we thinking maybe some Mallard may be in it too. We're thinking a drake but it's still young and does'nt have a uniform chest like swedes should, though I don't know how many you get that are perfect in a batch unless their pure.I've also noticed that 2 out of 3 have a lil' white eyline is that a sexing thing or not? Either way it's a gourgeous bird,I love the teal outline on it's back feathers! My lil one is starting to get green too.

the green on the head and back most likely means it's a male, I have a black and white magpie, whos a hen, and no green sheen at all.

boy ducks also get that curl in their tail... so look for that as he matures.

I have a mess of blue and black and blue splash swedish ducks if anyone wants some... pick up in MD
