Black tailed red marans chicks

I usually raise my own chicks , and I have already hatched twice and have some in the incubator now. But I wanted a different breed so I ordered 8 black tailed red marans from Cackle hatchery and they arrived this morning. Healthy as always and included a couple extra. Does anyone else have this breed?

They seem to have heavily feathered feet. I just wanted another breed that laid dark eggs and figured I would give them a try. There's very little info out there about this chicken. Not sure if it's a cross that is fairly new or not??

I have three hens from cackle. Our roo sadly is gone, but he was so very sweet. We have a replacement roo coming in June.

And these are our first six eggs we got from them. I’m now getting consistently dark eggs like the bottom four eggs. The ones I’m getting now have such beautiful speckles on them.
