Black To White Experiment

I believe I can rule out nutrition as a cause of change in color. The increase in nutrients like Omega 3, & 6 Fatty Acids just seemed to help Smarty Pants with her color change, rather then prevent more from happening.

But I'm not ruling it out completely yet, I have Rooster Booster, Poultry Cell I can give a few times, to see if there's any change, or not. If no change in her color change, then I'll know for sure that nutrition definitely is not a cause of her color change.

Can feathers change color after they have grown? I thought they got their color as they were being formed, and could not change after that.

If feathers cannot change color after growing, then her appearance will only change when she molts, and will stay constant in between molts, no matter what you do or do not feed her at the non-molting times.

(If I'm wrong, I'd appreciate a good source of information so I can learn more about the subject.)

I was talking about new plumage, that's still pin feathers. She's still molting abit, but has slowed.

Well, old unmolted plumage can look pale, not shiny, or rough before molt, or even sunbleached.

Oh, that makes sense. I hadn't realized that she was still actively growing feathers at the present time.
She, & her daughter went through a double molt. First molt was normal, then the color change happened a month later.
Not at the same time though.
