Black Toe on Chick after Picking off Poop

Hi all, this is my first time having chicks. I have been checking for pasty butt like crazy, but found out today that I need to be cleaning the poop off their feet (call me naive, I guess I just thought it wiped off from their bedding)...anyway, I just cleaned them all up and one of the my chicks has black on the tip of her toe. It is right by the nail. It seems like she is in pain as she was very upset when I was cleaning it and now she is trying not to walk or stand on that foot. Is there anything I should do for her or just leave it?

I did not know about cleaning feet! I'm new,too! Looks like I will be cleaning claws this afternoon!

Just an update in case somebody runs into this in the future...I sprayed the toe with a mixture of water, silver, and frankincense essential oil with hopes to keep infection away. Well, yesterday while checking the chickens' feet I noticed that the black tip of the toe and claw fell off and Miss Maxie is showing no further problems
