What are the differences between a black Spanish turkey and a black colored blue slate Turkey?

No matter what people claim, there are no pure Black Spanish turkeys in the U.S. The APA has only ever recognized Black turkeys irregardless of their source. They have never made a distinction for a Black Spanish turkey. There was no actual difference between a Black Spanish turkey and a Norfolk Black turkey other than where they originated and were raised.

The Black Slate is not a black colored Blue Slate. It is a Black turkey. It does not have the slate (D) color gene.

The difference that I saw between a Black turkey and a Black Slate turkey was that my Black Slates would all develop a band of gray feathers just below their tail feathers. A pure Black turkey will only have black feathers.
