Black tuxedo coturnix

I'm curious, starting with only pharaoh and white, I ended up with 3 or 4 more kinds. I've been at this less than a year.
Is there a high mutation rate among coturnix? I'd also like to know if the chinese blue "button" quail can cross with the japanese,
and if the offspring are fertile or sterile? Thanks.

(I realize it's probably already been covered somewhere else around here)

I get 2-3 "black" ones like that each year, but they never stay that dark. by the time they feather out they cannot be distinguished from their normal tux siblings....

It's a shame they don't stay black like that. -

Yeah, aside from the eggs I bought about a year ago, I've only hatched my own eggs.
The rest that hatched look pretty much as expected. I'll have some more eggs hatch next week,
maybe I'll get another one.

I got busy and forgot all about it. Two of my adult birds look almost identical. One of these guys is her.
I not quite sure which one. =) It was a little difficult to get them to sit still. lol

Nice looking birds! I loved it whenever I got a dark, fat tuxedo chick - most of my tuxes were scrawny little things but every onmce in a while I got a big, black fat one like yours
