And I think the little guy on your foot would disagree..you definitely rescued him!Well no it didn't hatch a week later. I found it, I incubated it for 28 days, it hatched. Sorry this isn't a wildlife rescue story ^^; just a lucky coincidence.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that. He does need a companion though yeah? Did you call the company you got the eggs from, they may replace them if you‘re willing to try again.Update on the shipped egg:
Duckling died in shell. He was having a bit of a hard time when I had fallen asleep. When I woke up this morning he had his head out of the egg and was still. Guess that's just typical. I get 6 eggs and each one of them died throughout incubation. Then the remaining survivor just kicks as well. Bright side is I spent time and got Safflowers outdoor pen all sorted out for when he gets older.
I thought about it but instead went with a more local source. They are incubating and I'm also getting a separate hatcher so I can avoid a potential problem with the one I have. But yes, I am in fact trying again. Also over the weekend I got safflowers outdoor pen set up. I'm waiting on a solar panel to get in for the powering idea I came up with (put a light and 50 watt heat lamp in the coop for chilly nights). Nice thing about my design is it's able to be expanded upon should I want to add more space (which I intend to at some point)Oh I am so sorry to hear that. He does need a companion though yeah? So cute! I like the solar power idea. How many ducks are you hoping to end up with? And what breed?I thought about it but instead went with a more local source. At some point I went down a black hole of power requirement calculations and realized it was viable. But I have 4 Mallard derived eggs. The guy wasn't too sure cause they all mingle. And I'm no elitist. I've raised call ducks, regular mallards, a few geese, and this blue swed over time.So cute! I like the solar power idea. How many ducks are you hoping to end up with?
