Black vs Blue Swedish duckling identification

And I think the little guy on your foot would disagree..you definitely rescued him!🤣
Fair point.
Right now I'm a bit worried about one of the shipped eggs I got though. About a month ago (A week after I found the egg) I decided to order some eggs online. Over the course of incubation 5 of the 6 eggs died in shell, real sad thing really. But one has made it to pipping and I can hear him whistling merrily away (I think I'll give him a rather carefree name idk yet. Maybe alkaid or antares ((I do astronomy)) ) What I worry about though is how large his air cell is despite the incubation temperature and humidity. When I got the eggs, most of them were saddled, which had me concerned. So I'm gonna have to keep an eye on that one to see if it needs any assistance due to potential shrinkwrapping.
I'd like to at least have one hatch out of those unfortunate 6.

Update on the shipped egg:
Duckling died in shell. He was having a bit of a hard time when I had fallen asleep. When I woke up this morning he had his head out of the egg and was still. Guess that's just typical. I get 6 eggs and each one of them died throughout incubation. Then the remaining survivor just kicks as well. Bright side is I spent time and got Safflowers outdoor pen all sorted out for when he gets older.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that. He does need a companion though yeah? Did you call the company you got the eggs from, they may replace them if you‘re willing to try again.

I thought about it but instead went with a more local source. They are incubating and I'm also getting a separate hatcher so I can avoid a potential problem with the one I have. But yes, I am in fact trying again. Also over the weekend I got safflowers outdoor pen set up. I'm waiting on a solar panel to get in for the powering idea I came up with (put a light and 50 watt heat lamp in the coop for chilly nights). Nice thing about my design is it's able to be expanded upon should I want to add more space (which I intend to at some point)

So cute! I like the solar power idea. How many ducks are you hoping to end up with? And what breed?

At some point I went down a black hole of power requirement calculations and realized it was viable. But I have 4 Mallard derived eggs. The guy wasn't too sure cause they all mingle. And I'm no elitist. I've raised call ducks, regular mallards, a few geese, and this blue swed over time.

Oh, so you still have four more eggs?

I haven’t had much luck with ducks..but I keep trying! I have six Blue Swedish, two Khaki, & two Rouen and three Pekin and one lone drake chocolate Runner.

Welsh Harlequin are gorgeous and so are the Cayuga..I may have to get some of those!
