The tips of my cockerel's comb are turning black. I know it is not frostbite because he was hatched in February, 6.5 months ago, and hasn't been exposed to temperatures below 60.

Any idea as to what this could be, or if it's just normal? I've never had a rooster with as big of comb and wattles as him. Otherwise, he's totally healthy.

He's a Cream Legbar, though he has the white recessive gene, so he doesn't really look at all like a legbar, in my opinion. He came from Greenfire stock.

Poor circulation, could even have a heart problem(a small murmur or abnormality).

Generally if I have a big combed rooster and he is not stressed and the tips of his comb are still purple that means the heart doesnt manage to get blood all the way thru and may be off.... those roosters usually end up going downhill at some point due to a heart defect.

If he was stressed recently(a move or something) that may happen too and will go away on its own.

Nope, no moves, no stress. He's been in that coop ever since he went outside.

I'm glad to have the heads' up that it could be some heart issue. If he does have a decline in health, I'll know what to blame it on. My first thought was a heart issue, but I was afraid I was playing hypochondriac with my chickens (been known to happen before LOL).
