Black head is passed from infected chicken's poo when ingested by other fowl. Chickens do not seem to be as affected by it, but it can be deadly to turkey & peafowl etc.. search blackhead disease on here for a more detailed info or on the UPA. Most fowl affected will show depression, come off food and display a very bright yellow poo, often watery due to lack of appetite. Affected chickens most often appear normal and it makes it hard to tell if any are affected. i always keep on hand a med called Fish-zole,( I order from Jeffers) a fish med but the chemical ingredient helps eliminate the disease from the affected fowl if caught early. Some people never have a problem keeping different species confined together, but I don't take a chance,.... my preference. Regular worming of all fowl with Safeguard/ Panacur type wormers helps prevent outbreaks also.
