Personally I would not have killed the black snake, I'd have blocked off where he got in, but that's just me, I happen to believe black snakes keep rat/mice populations down and keep the more dangerous snakes like copperheads, away.
But that's a personal call, each individual has to decide what is best for them and theirs.
Well as for the blacksnake keeping rats and mice down they are good. Me, personally I have a cat that does well enough with that nuisance. Now as for right or wrong to relocate or not to relocate, I have no thoughts one way or the other. Do they keep copperheads down? Not that I have noticed. We have seen our share of copperheads this year.
