Bleach to disinfect a Brooder?

I am hoping to move my 2 1/2 wk old chicks into an old dog crate. I am wondering if I can use bleach to clean it? Will this harm the chicks? This is my first time raising chicks and am clueless.

I use a bleach & water mixture. it workd great

almost forgot... once or twice a week I soak their food & water dishes in the sink with a bleach, dawn, & water mixture. make sure your dog cage does'nt have anywhere for the babies to get stuck trying to squeeze through. we tried the same thing with our 3 weed old ri reds, and the were getting stuck trying to escape. we lined it with card board from the inside to prevent injury. we keep them in large storage bins now.
