Hi everyone
I was holding my almost 2 month old female Buff Duck when I noticed some blood. I noticed it was coming from her back nail. I put some Neosporin on it and dipped her foot in flour to try to stop the bleeding. Does anyone have any other suggestions to help prevent infection? She’s currently living inside with her best friend Daisy the silver appleyard duck. This was supposed to be their last night inside before moving out with our other ducks and chickens.

Same thing happened with one of my ducks. I stopped the bleeding with cornstarch, cleaned it up with Vetericyn and applied a tiny bit of antibiotic ointment. It never bothered her again. Your girl will be fine

If it's just a little nick to the quick she'll be okay. If it starts to bleed again apply more cornstarch/flour and Neosporin. Check on the nail in few days to make sure it's healing and there is no infection. Other than that, she should be good to go!
Thank you

My Daisy (SA Drake) ripped his off and it was just hanging by a thread for a couple weeks and it eventually fell off & he grew another, your girl will be ok.

BTW, my Daisy wants to say hi to your Daisy but, I wouldn't trust that's all he has in mind 🤨 🙄
