bleeding foot...

I have sent that one in, have a few others like this one- she seems to be doing fine, but i was looking at her feet and it looks like one of the feathers on the same foot may be having issues too- i guess that is common with feather feet? is it ok to trim the foot feathers to be able to see them better?

doesn't she look intent in this one??

I would think you could trim them, Robin. I don't think they have blood feathers in the legs.
Could she have an infection at the base of the feather shaft?
She looks right at home in front of the computer. One like that can sure steal your heart and become a favorite.

i'll relook at them tomorow- wonder if drawing salve would work or would a general antibiotic take care of it?

I would stick with the Neosporin OR if you have some, PenG Procaine injectable is good for surface infections(skin, comb, etc.)

ok, here is her foot today- trimmed her nails and feathers some- she seems oblivious to it-

their feet are weird looking

If you have mud where you are I'd clean it everyday till it's healed. My cochins look like they have been mud wrestling it's so muddy right now.. Have you soaked her foot in epsom salt water[warm]?

she is an inside chicken- but it can't hurt to soak her feet anyway, as a precaution...thanks for the suggestion!
