Went out to find a lot of blood in the coop, then found
one of my 4mth old PR's bleeding from her bottom. I
put her bottom in warm water, she was calm, I then held
her in my lap in a towel and she slept as i pet her, she seemed
very comfortable as i made my coffee etc... holding her. I called
my feed store and he said all i could do was try the antibiotics,
she is in a seperate cage. Not doing much though the bleeding
has slowed quite a bit. Im so upset, i dont want her to suffer, is there
anything else i can do for her? I think its coming from her intestines
not her vent there is no prolapse ?? help? worried sick all day

I'm sorry about your girl. do you have any epsom salts to add to the water soaks? Has she laid any eggs yet? If one broke it could be cutting her. Is she having normal poops? I'm sure a more experienced member will be here soon to help you. I hope she gets better.

Thank you for the reply, I seperated her and watched closely! The next
day another one, same thing I was really worried. That night while in bed
I was thinking and omgoodness, I had given them some strawberries adn
blueberries they didnt like them too much and that was the problem, everyone
is good now and back to health. They are not laying yet, probably wont till
end of July? Thanx again Joanna

Glad you found out it was nothing serious. I am a little shocked that no one else replied to this question from 4 days ago.

Thank You lithiachick, I was a bit surprised too, but maybe I did not post in the correct place?
I'm new to the site and really haven't had the time to navigate my way thru it all. These girls are
keeping me busy lol! I can hardly wait till someone starts laying? They have a few weeks to go
still, I was amazed at how fast they grow! I'm hoping to let them free range on Monday, i just have
to put up a 3 foot gate on one side of my house otherwise they should not get away!! lol, I love
that they go in at night by themselves, I watch then go out and lock them up! Hope you are having
as much fun as I am! Thanx again for replying.

No, it was the right place. And the title was an attention grabber! I learn a lot from reading these posts. I have 4 Barnverlder babies (hatched from a breeder June 9) I do like watching chicken TV, and they are inside for now. Won't go out for a few more weeks. And not until my husband builds the run! Looks like you have a variety which is nice. I think I have one Blue Barbie in the group, so that is cool. I'm on 10 acres and crazy about protecting them from predators. Hope you have no more issues with yours. Mindi
