Bleeding on chicken foot and legs

Not really sure how to describe it but it smells like bad meat with blood

If it

Can you get photos of all of her and the front of her legs/feet too?
What do you feed, including treats?

What do you mean she also has it in her crop? Are you seeing yellow or white pasty material inside her beak and/or throat, any discharge or crusty around the eyes, nostrils, etc.?
Any bad odor from the legs/joint or from around her face/inside her beak?
Any lethargy?
She sits a lot or move about?
Any lice or mites on the body crawling around? For mites, you'll need to check when roosting. Look around the vent, under the wings, etc.

With photos and more info, I may be able to offer better suggestions.

That said - initial care I would give is to clean the legs with chlorhexidine and apply a triple antibiotic ointment. I'd be inclined to wrap both joints, I assume she's not roosting?
Keep her on clean dry bedding.

I did notice some yellow on her beak and some yellow like scab on her crop. Her legs do smell

My thoughts are break down of skin and tissue from sitting and from dampness.

Does she roost or does she sleep on the floor?

I'd give the legs a soaking in diluted chlorhexidine. Lightly debride the skin on the legs, try to clean the toes well, those are harder because of the feathers. Apply triple antibiotic to the joints and wrap. She needs to be on clean dry bedding. I would be hesitant to wrap the feet at this time, you want them to dry out a little.

Swab the crop area with chlorhexidine and apply a little triple antibiotic ointment.

Do you have any antibiotics on hand?

If you have vet care, that would be best.

I am still not sure how to spot mites or lice. I looked under her wings and through her feathers and didn’t see anything. I soaked her legs in warm water with epson salt today again. I also used chlorhexidine to clean her legs and crop. Then I used antibiotic ointment. She still smells but not as bad as yesterday. She is also roosting and I made sure to add plenty of fresh dry wood chips. I will wash her legs with the diluted chlorhexidine. Do you think she could have gotten this from nesting on the floor. I let her incubate her eggs on the bottom of my coop which has no cement floor. I just put a foot of wood chips down. Unfortunately, I don’t have a vet that I could call. I’m not even sure if there are any vets that work with poultry in my area. Do I need a vet to prescribe antibiotics or can I buy them myself? Also would scaly mites cause that rash on her crop or does it only affect the chickens legs? Thank you so much for helping me and answering my questions. Everyone on here has been so helpful and generous. Thank you all I will give an update tomorrow.

You would see lice crawling around on the body. Mites usually live in the coop and come out to feed at night, so checking at night is always a good idea. The Chicken Chick has some photos for i.d. in her articles, you may want to check those out.

The Chlorhexidine and daily cleaning of the legs and crop area may be all you need to do, but for me, I think I'd get antibiotics to help with any infection.
Baytril would be good choice.

It's possible the tissue started to break down while she was sitting on eggs, if she was on dry straw or bedding while sitting, then I'm just not sure.
It's possible this could be from something totally different like some type of fungal skin infection, mites/lice or?
So many things can affect chickens.

I agree with getting her clean and dry. Antiseptic on the scabby areas or antibiotic ointment may help. The swelling on the feet, along with the broken down skin on the joints, feet, and chest could be something like mycoplasma synovitis, a bacterial respiratory and joint infection. Hopefully enrofloxacin or Baytril will help treat that. 10% enrofloxacin dosage is 0.1 ml for a 2 pound chicken, given twice daily for 5 days. Walmart and other pharmacies give away needle-less 1 ml syringes which can be handy for those small doses.

Many lice affect the lower belly under the vent between legs, and when you part the feather, you may see them moving. Others may be under wings and around the neck. White clumps of eggs can be seen at the base of feathers.

Thank you for helping me out so much. I washed her feet, crop, and applied the chlorhexidine to her face. She doesn’t smell at all today which I’m so happy about. I will check out that article and check her for mites/ lice. I took a picture of her legs and front feet. Do her scales look raised or is that normal for silkies? I’m going to take your advice and buy the antibiotic for her and continue to wash her daily. Thank you

Thank you for the response. Yes, that abrasion is on her comb. That was not the ointment. I’ll trim her face feathers and make sure to buy the Nustock. Should I also treat my other chickens for SLM since they are basically in the same coop? What can I use to exterminate the SLM. Would vinegar work or would I need something stronger? I will send more updates on how she is doing tomorrow. Thanks again for your wonderful help She seems to be getting better each day.

SLM mainly live under the scales of the legs and feet, but can slow migrate to other birds. You can apply the NuStock to the other's legs and feet, it won't hurt them.
For housing/coop, I'd treat with a Permethrin based spray, do spray the interior, making sure to get the roosting bars and nesting boxes. You can find premixed spray at stores like TSC. I like to buy the concentrate, it's a bit more economical but you will need to mix it up yourself in a spray bottle.

Alright, that’s good. I want to make sure I can prevent this from happening to more of my flock. I’m going to spray the coop down and apply nustock to my chickens. I’ll give you guys another update in three days. I hope she can recover soon. Thank you for all the wonderful help.
