It has all been smooth sailing until today. I went out and looked in our brooder and saw blood stained tail feathers. Our 3 week old leghorn broke a tail feather. I immediately separated and went to the store for meds. I sprayed with vetricyn and then Wound Kote, since the store didn't carry Blu Kote and it was closing time, so I couldn't check at TSC. It didn't seem to still be actively bleeding, and was covered pretty well with bright purple from the Wound Kote. She was not too happy about being separated, so I tried putting her back in with the others and watched to see how it would go. My Lavender Orpington immediately pecked at her back side, and then another joined in. I thought the purple was supposed to keep that from happening. I've had no issues with bullying or pecking until today.

Now I'm at a loss for what to do. I'm wondering if they aren't going after her because it's now bright purple! Help a girl out! I'm a first time chicken mama, and I've got 8 2/mo fluff butts in the coop, and 8 more 3 week olds in the brooder.. well, 7 because the poor purple baby is in a separate box. She is highly disgruntled because she is being very vocal about it. How long should I keep her separated?
