First hen I ever had.
She laid the first egg I ever had.
She's the reason I love Jersey Giants.
She and her 3 sisters were the reason I joined BYC Sept 07.
Loved to sit by me
She was well loved by me and my husband.

Okay, NOW I'm in tears. Thankyou for your thoughts. Yes , I will have to catch Valerie and give her a hug. I'm glad you still have a sister, Cynthia. Valerie is probably the sweetest hen I have, but doesn't like to be held. But she will tolerate it, LOL. Valerie was actually the "bonus" egg you sent me so long ago.

Valerie sure is a "bonus" if she's remotely like Gypsy. Gypsy is very, very special. She laid an egg just yesterday, not even finished up with her molt. She loves being held, absolutely loves it. She seems in good health and will be 7 years old in November. I'm hoping she lives years longer, though. It wouldn't be the same here without Gypsy.

Again, so sorry about your Charlene. They never leave our hearts. Some of them just leave their permanent footprints all over them.

Agreed...also think we're crazy for making them pets.
