That sounds fun. I'll be doing more specific breeding next spring. Right now it's free for all in my yard, lol.Nah imma test breed my roo to see if he’s split mottled or not lol
Welcome to the 'not for breakfast' club, lol. You'll never see a chicken egg the same way again, lolSo it looks like I'm in the works with getting an incubator and then some local bantam cochin eggs. But I don't know that it'll be in time for Halloween, unfortunately.
Looks like fun. Hoping you get a great hatch rate. I only use broody hens to hatch. Incubators seem so complicated to me. Wishing you the best of luck.I'm in!
My hatch may be a bit different than most since I'm putting 5 new incubators through their paces with a few eggs in each.
When I candle on day 10 I'll consolidate the 'keepers' into one incubator, then set a few more in the unoccupied incubators. My goal is 30 viable chicks when all is said and done (I have 52 eggs), but I'll have a bit of a staggered hatch.
This is only my third hatch and my last two didn't yield great results so I'm trying a dry-hatch for the first time. Wish me luck!

I'll also . be posting more of the 'data collection' on which incubator is/isn't working properly in my own thread (in the signature) for future use.
My favorite breed of chicken. So it looks like I'm in the works with getting an incubator and then some local bantam cochin eggs. But I don't know that it'll be in time for Halloween, unfortunately.
I'd personally fire it up a day before at least, and close enough works for me. @casportpony how much leeway are we giving on set dates?Side note: If we should all set eggs around noon tomorrow, what time should we turn on the incubators so they get up to temp and humidity? Umm, we also don't all live in the same time zone. Was the covered in the intro and I missed it?
I'm hoping to use broodies in the future. I have 5 Buff Orpingtons and 5 cochin bantams, so we'll see.Looks like fun. Hoping you get a great hatch rate. I only use broody hens to hatch. Incubators seem so complicated to me. Wishing you the best of luck.
Yes, yes you should, but what @oldhenlikesdogs says too, but yes!Should I do this hatch? I'm considering hatching some chicks on Halloween but I live in a cold climate.
