Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Golden Comet is one of many labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links (Red Star, as NorthFlChick mentioned, is another), and like all Red Sex Links, they are egg laying machines. It's great that you have a dog that doesn't chase your chickens, but do keep a close eye on him when they're together. As many BYC members can attest (often to their sorrow), dogs and chickens typically do not mix well, and even dogs who have shown no previous inclination to chase the chickens, suddenly and unexpectedly decide to chase and even kill the chickens. Once a dog has done this, it's almost impossible for to break it from doing it again. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Welcome to Backyard Chickens. Boo Boo does look very tense about the chicks. I think without you and your wife, prompting her with "good dog" her reaction would have been much more energetic. She knows she is being watched. It would be good if you could have her approach their run, leashed and from the outside, so she could vent some of her curiosity by sniffing through the fence. Meeting a whole batch of chicks at once, is overload.

Love your coop, very impressive. Red color looks great next to your house.
Great video, your new flock are quite cute and look like they are having fun!

Ditto comments on not letting your boxer around them without supervision. There are too many reports of folks whose dogs protect their flock and then turn on them. I'm sure you know that and will be careful.
