Last week I hatched refrigerated eggs from my lovely hen that was killed by a raccoon. One has been ill so I've been hand feeding it. It wasn't until today that I finally realized it's BLIND! it's balance is off and it's continuously stumbling and peeping. It's also malnourished because it can't seem to find food and water(pecking at the air). Please help! What do I do?

Welcome!

Sorry to hear about losing your hen to a raccoon and now your little one being blind. I have read multiple threads on blind chickens being able to cope quite well if you are prepared to give her that little bit of extra TLC she will require.

Best wishes to you and her. Please keep us updated on how she goes .. she is adorable!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Keep the food and water in the same place, so she can find them. You can also tap on the containers to encourage her to eat & drink. I think she would like to have a stuffed animal to cuddle with as well.

You've been given some good links and tips so I'll just say hello and best of luck with your chick!
