Blind rooster in fight

Can you see his eyes to see if they are intact? Is there gunk in the newly injured eye? Cleaning the eye with a clean wet cloth and applying some Terramycin eye ointment (or a similar ointment) 2-3 times a day after cleaning would be good. Roosters need to be kept separate or they will fight. It is always good to have a plan on what to do with extra cockerels. I stopped breeding because no one wanted my extras. The ones in the pictures appear to be a black australorp and a black copper Marans, but I am not an expert on breeds. Those are some I have had.

His eyes appear to be intact. There is a bit of a creamy white fluid overtop of them. He o ya is starting to open his eyes for short periods of time. I think the antibiotics are helping. I will try and see if I can find what you are suggesting. In Canada we need a vet to prescribe things, farmers aren’t allowed to buy them. I have been using a saline eye cleaner. I was using polysporin but a vet tech told me that wasn’t good for them and could cause ulcers so I stopped

I would use the polysporin if I could not get any other antibiotic eye ointment. Neosporin is similar, minus one ingredient, and there is no difference between the topical and the eye ointment, and they are sterile before opening the tube. They are both the same chemically, and I would use the eye ointment preferrably, but in a pinch I have used plain neosporin topical in a chicken’s eye. It is up to you if you want to or not. Milky white material may be pus, and pus should be removed. Here is a graphic video of removing pus from an eye:

This is just crazy as I have the same exact Roosters and my Australorp (Snoopdog) is much larger than my Copper Maran which I thought was a Buff Orpington (Caesar) and Caesar bloodied both his eyes last night, I have worked my tail off building an impenetrable chicken Run and that Ceaser always seems to find a way in and he waits for us to leave and he makes his move. We now have Snoopdog in our sunroom and looking up how to care for him so if anyone has insight for us that would be helpful.

Welcome to BYC. Can you post any pictures? What have you done so far for the eyes or wounds? You can drip saline or a wound spray such as Vetericyn on the eyes, and clean them gently. Terramycin eye ointment from a feed store or plain Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment then can be put into each eye twice a day. Can you see his eyes? Do they both seem intact? Sometimes swelling needs to go down for a few days before you know the extent of damage. I would mix some wet chicken feed and water plus some soft cooked egg daily, and hold it up to his beak 2-3 times a day. He really needs to drink water.
