One of my ducks a khaki campbell 'Cocoa' is around 3 three years old. She has gone blind in one eye - I didn't notice she'd hurt herself or anything just a white film like she has a cateract. Is there anything I can do and does anyone know if there's a possibility it will go into her other eye? Her other eye is clear at the moment. She's my cleverest duck and rushes to the glass doors if any preditors are around to tell us I would hate to lose her to a preditor as she's saved many lives of our chickens.

If you can get a vet to look at her, that would be best - I don't know much about eye ailments.

It could be cataracts, I think, or it could be scarring from something else.

In any case, you are correct that she is now much more vulnerable to predators. Half her field of vision is gone. She has protected the flock, now she must herself be protected.

Unfortunately the only vet around has said not to bother bringing my ducks to them as they don't know much about ducks-as it is they call me for advice about chickens
