Bloated Chick!?!?!?!!?

Thank you Boo-Boo's Mama, I will try that when I get home.

TXmom, she did have pasty butt but I've been cleaning it off regulary. But that still could be the problem.

Does this happen to all chicks?! Or just the place I ordered from? Two of mien died in the first wk and now I've got this poor girl. On top of that one of the chicks I got locally has a sprained tendon or soemthing! I'll do my best though and wish me luck!

If it feels like fluid, Id take a syringe and drain it. keep it warm and comfortable. If it feels unusually warm. possibly infection. Treat the symptoms.

Some say pasty butt could be caused from the brooder being too hot. Do you have a thermometer in the brooder? I had pasty butt with my first chicks but the next two batches never had a problem. I think I had the brooder way too hot in the first week or so.

It doesn't really feel like fluid..thankfully!

It might have been to hot the first week but the second wk I lowered it to 90 (it was 95 the first) and the pasty butt has disapeared in most and then they seemed to huddle under it so I lowered it today.
