Hair is wayyy better than ropes.

Ropes are probably too heavy.
I don't understand how the heck ropes would stay clean.
I can just smell the funk all the way over here.

Spraying baby powder stuff on your hair doesn't clean it.

I guess you can put some alcohol in a spray bottle and mist the dreads to kill the bacteria and bugs that might be living in it. But that's also flammable.

Your hair is so pretty! Mine is about that long if it was straightened. I have a wavy curl to my hair and if I don't straighten it, it can look kinda crazy
