I have 1 rooster and 8 hens all about 17-18 weeks old so they should start laying soon. Went out this morning and found blood under the roost as well as under the hen house in the run....all 9 of them are eating, drinking and acting completely normal, not seemingly sick at all......i also checked everyone for injuries and everyone is fine...they went out to free range and no one is having any problems

the bloody areas look like puddles of bloody jello and must have come from someone's vent although i cannot find anyone with a bloody backside.....

I'm completely freaked out and leaving in 10 hours for vacation; we have out neighbor coming to feed & water them and also let them out and lock them in....
i've also sent a stool sample in to the vet to check for parasites....

PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks!

i didnt see anything that would have indicated an injury....BUT my son says the rooster did fall off an old roosting stick that is way too narrow for him yesterday afternoon when he went to feed them and let them out...so maybe its him? it just looks like its where they poop most so i assumed it must be from the vent

heard from the vet...he hasnt tested to poo yet, but thinks it might be related to the heat and the recent change of diet ( just changed them to the layena feed on monday since they should be laying any time).... kinda like a stress reaction...
