I'm not sure if this is blood or just a discoloration or something. What do you all think?

I think they have eaten tomatoes, but I don't know if that could turn their poop red. They have also eaten some peach if that could count as red.

I saw another poop that looked very similar to the one in the picture. It was dried out like the other one and they were in the same area, so I don't know if they were pooped around the same time. It was also under a car in the driveway so that's why I didn't see it. I looked around in the chicken coop but I didn't see any similar poop.

I took my puppy to the vet 2 days ago... He has hookworms and coccidia. I've heard that chickens can get hookworms, and I've heard that they can't. On another thread someone said that they had poop tested and the chicken had hookworm so apparently it's possible... I've also heard that coccidia is species specific but I've also heard that dogs can get it from chickens... Oh boy:oops:

Everything I've ever read says coccidia is species specific and the same strains do not infect chickens and dogs. I've had to treat for it in my birds quite a few times, never in my dogs. My understanding is that hookworms are rare in chickens, but not impossible. Both Valbazen and Safeguard would work if you needed to treat for hookworms in your chickens.
