My Icelandic chicken lays bloody eggs every time - as in bloody on the inside. Sometimes they have a ton of blood. It's always very bright red, doesn't look like meat spots....it's streaks. Any idea what could be causing this or what to do about it? We give our eggs to friends and I always make sure never to give anyone her eggs. Half the time I have to throw them all out because of the blood.

Blood inside the egg is caused by a small rupture in a blood vessel as the egg is being processed through the oviduct. You may also sometimes see a small flesh like spot. These are normal and safe, but if you find it unpleasing you can throw away or feed the (cooked) eggs back to your hens. Your hen is not hurt or injured in anyway

Blood inside the egg usually means that a blood vessel has ruptured as the egg is being processed through the oviduct. It is normal as long as it isn't constant, but you said that it is constant? I have kept many hens in the past 5 years, and have only had 1 egg with a blood spot inside.
It could either be hereditary or she could be lacking vitamin A.

How can I provide more vitamin A? /QUOTE]
I grow kale more for my chickens than for me! This is showing human percentages. Just throw whatever in there, they'll eat what they need and chop it themselves.
