Blood in nesting box

Today I found this in my nesting box. I have 6 hens and I didn't see any blood on any of them. Any idea what could have happened, there's no chance any other animal was in there.

You might want to check their combs. A pecking order dispute where a comb is torn can bleed pretty well but also scabs up quickly so you might not have noticed it. That's one possibility. Good luck to you!

x2.They like to wiggle there combs when its bleeding so everything go's flying.

I would suspect a comb injury, too. Or maybe a broken nail--they can fling blood into odd places with their feet.
