Hi all! One of my rhode island reds laid this egg today (its shiny because I had rinsed dirt off). Is this blood? Is this normal? Any help appreciated, thanks!!

Speckling, not blood. Just blotches of excess pigment. A lot of people like speckled eggs for the appearance.
thanks! this is a really dumb question probably, but I can always scrub the speckling off, is it safe to leave it on?

Absolutely. I rarely wash or clean off my eggs before using, regardless.
Thanks! I normally do a quick rinse with water and maybe a little scrub, our girls always get their eggs so dang dirty. Covered in dirt almost always for some reason, even when it is dry out.
