I was collecting eggs today and I found that the tip of one of the eggs was smeared with some blood. Is this something I should be concerned about? What is wrong?

Nothing's wrong, especially if your layers are young and new to laying.

I had a bloody egg today as a matter of fact. It was from a silkie and maybe her third egg.

You might check your hens/pullets for signs of copious amounts of blood around the vent, but chances are it was just from a bit of tissue tearing to make room for the egg to pass.

My chickens have been laying for 3 months, and I still get a tiny streak of blood now and then, especially with a double yolker;). No big deal.
