oh, and i got another polish egg today ! two in a row. i am going to put it in the bator. breeder also said some times his roos help sit.

If i give them to her and she stops sitting I only go out there once a day they would chill pretty bad. I have a heat lamp in there but where she is i know they would die. I dont know what to do

Leave them in the incubator. If she continues to keep setting then you can move the eggs to her nest a few days before they are due to hatch----if you want.

OK Granny Hatchet you got me confused-----You said in a previous post you took the eggs from her and put in the incubator, also in another post you said you did not know if you should give them back or not---I posted the above post about giving them back before they hatch if she continues to set, then you post this post saying you have not got one yet----LOL.

LOL granny means she hasn't been able to incubate and succesfully hatch these hens eggs before she was broody in the incubator. She has been collecting the eggs up from the hen and putting them in the bator. She now dosnt know if to put some that are already in the bator under the hen now she is broody, to see if the hen does a better job that the bator.

yes, what yorkshire said. lol I am sorry. with an ol granny you have to read between the lines i guess. I save probably went through close to 20 serama eggs so far with no luck at all. 9 of them were shipped. I have 4 in there now on day 11 and 3 that just went in. so far, these 4 are still alive but i have been having mid-incubation deaths. I am sorry for the confusion. I am trying a lot of different things. It would be great if those eggs were easy to come by but one every other day or every 3rd day is what i had to work with.

Its OK Granny. What I do with those special breeds---that gives me one egg every day or two or three is set what I have every 7 days----on the 18th day I move the 2 or 3 eggs to a second incubator----using it as a hatcher(higher humidity and no turner). When they hatch I clean it and have it ready to plug in again a day before I need it again for the next 2 or 3 eggs. Doing it this way the first incubator just runs 24/7 and does not have to be shut down and cleaned because there are no eggs hatching in it. Good Luck Granny

Ooh congrats hope it continues. My little one has started paying her way everyday for the last four days. Her four sisters are still showing no signs though. I'm convinced I only have one good layer!! And my other group are 4 weeks younger so still waiting on them.

mama was not sitting well so i took her egg and added it to mine. I did give her 2 rir eggs . she looks so cute trying to "sit" them . it looks like a chicken with water wings on. one under each wing pushing her wings way up in the air. she would sit the egg for a while then the roo would try to mate her on the nest and she would jump out running every where and then she would "sit" on the floor without the egg. I really didnt have anywhere to put him.

that is what i intended to do. I bought another incubator for that very reason but so far none of them have made it over there.
