blood ring or blind

its out. not sure what shape its in though. hatched itself but I seen blood at the bottom .its was like a jellied blood clot. not very big. half penny maybe. A very tiny amount from the umbilical that i stopped right away. I put it on paper towel in the bator . its not moving around . still wet though. far as i can tell it will have the hairdo and it is black . all of it. I dont have a black chicken out there except alstrop hens.

is there any way I would be able to tell right away?
Granny, this is not the answer you are hunting, but for me there is a sure fire way of telling----control breeding----every egg I put in the incubator from my chickens---I know what breed they will be because they are all separated!! Good Luck with your hatch!!

oh, I know your right riverman, I am disabled and cant do that much besides that I dont even have a pr. of anything except my one pr of seramas . LOL and they are separate.

Congrats granny :celebrate So pleased it is out at last!! Ooh I'm not sure then about then about the black. Hopefully when it has dried out and fluffed up it will give you a better idea of colour. I know I've had them look totally different when they have dried. I thought I had a black with one of them and when it dried it was acctually a blue!! Can't wait to see the pics of it :jumpy

it may be tipped in white but if it is the color is very hard to see. like a frost on the end of all the fuzz. the only think i see polish and my eyes are not so good is the nostrils.

baby chick is doing well, coal black fluff ball, black mark on beak and some black mottling on the legs. still no picture. sorry. any one know what the coldest temp. a fertile egg can drop to and still be viable? as in shipping.

I have hatched eggs that were cold to the touch and the temperature outside was in the 40's. Make sure that you let any cold eggs come slowly to room temperature before putting them in the incubator.

Did you get some shipped eggs?
