Hi there I’m new to the forum I had a question about a duck egg. My gold laced bantam has been consistsntly broody for the last few months with no rooster at my house. We have a lot of ducks in this area and my neighbor found a duck egg in her yard. So I had the bright idea of letting her try to hatch/raise it. Pepper has been lovingly caring for this egg for about a week. Everything was on track as far as candling until I looked at it today and now I think it probably has a blood ring? I believe this is day 7. I’m attaching a few different angles but for some of you that are more seasoned youll probably know instantly. I’ve never hatched a duck egg before.
thank you for your input. I decided to leave it under her for a couple more days and check again just to be safe. but I’m open to your opinions.

Not an expert on ducks, but if there isn't a male they won't produce a blood ring. To me (if there isn't a male) it could just be where the yolk has stuck to settled in the egg. If there is a male it could be a blood ring

Hi, this is a fertilized duck egg. My chicken is incubating it.

Here is an update today. I’d say it’s dead.
