blood

each one of mine did that with their first egg- that's how I knew I had a new layer in the flock. One Particular EE had quite a bit of blood on her first egg and several eggs after- I kept an eye on her and she was fine - after about the 5th egg- no more blood.
They all lay perfectly clean smooth eggs now- so no worries

my EE had that and shortly after she stopped laying eggs. She is my smallest hen and lays the largest eggs. I wonder if there is any connection between the bloody eggshells and her stopping laying. I have lights in the coop and all others have been laying fine.

I think its just a clich in the system and is fairly normal. We just had a very bloody surprise in the frying pan yesterday. First time ever in almost three years. They cease to amaze.
