Hey y'all! My purebred bloodhound Ruby is pregnant! She is already 7 weeks along so another 2 weeks and we should see puppies!!! Bloodhounds were always my FAVORITE dog breed. I absolutely adore them. I got my first one years ago and soon after got another. They are the derpiest, funniest, sweetest dogs you will ever meet. We instantly fell in love with my 2 goofballs and decided we would get in to breeding them. I knew that I had what it takes to do it. Though it can be hard having a house full of puppies running around.... it's the most amazing experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Being with a mother dog through this exciting time is a amazing thing. Helping her through her mood swings and appetite changes... sitting there for hours while they give birth and cheering them on... watching those beautiful puppies take their first breath.... AMAZING. We have had 3 litters so far and Ruby is going to be our 4th! This is her first litter so I am so excited! I know she will be a awesome mom. She got to socialize with our other gals puppies and she was so gentle with them. They would tug her ears and she would just give them all the kisses lol. Ok.... on to the puppies... she is 7 weeks in and her belly is growing more everyday. I will be posting updates on my gorgeous girl here for you all to see! When she has her puppies I will take lots of pictures and post them here! Enjoy! ā¤ pics below are of Ruby just before she got pregnant.

Just got some calcium supplement for her. Calcium supplement will be used whenever her temp drops before labor and it will also be given after each pup is born to keep contractions going. If anybody out there is breeding dogs I would definitely recommend getting some of this. Good thing to have on hand. :)

Update on Ruby! She is enjoying her doggie pancakes! I listened to her stomach today with a stethoscope and heard some heartbeats! Everything sounds good. She is starting to "bag up". She only has around 11 days left (give or take a few).

I used to know a breeder who gave her females a dish of vanilla ice cream right after they finished whelping. Some authorities say ice cream is not good for dogs, but the new mothers really seemed to appreciate it and it sure didn't hurt them any.
