Can you tell exactly where the blood is coming from...the bumps or 'inside' the eye socket?I did rinse with saline earlier today and that cleaned her face up, but the bloody discharge hasn’t stopped.

Truthfully, I would use many of the 'animal health products' for myself too. I believe tehy are manufactured to pretty much the same standard as human meds...I would use the ointment both inside the eye and a little outside. My dog recently had a scratched cornea in his eye, and the vet prescribed Neosporin Eye Ointment, but it ran out and I was told to use the OTC Triple Antibiotic Ointment afterward. It has worked well. The eye ointment is $30 and by prescription, and the OTC was $3. For animal use. i would use it.
Oh, that’s awful! I would watch them and make sure they have a big enough area so they don’t start picking on each other. You don’t want your chicken to end up blind in that eye. That will cause her a lot of problems. You will have to make sure that does not get infected.Hey everyone! I picked up two 3 month old Easter egger girls last weekend and everything has been great until today I noticed one of my girls’ eyes was covered in blood.
If you look closely at the pics, you can see 3 bumps around the eye (top, bottom and back) her other eye is normal and she is acting normal, eating/drinking, chatting etc.
I’m guessing her sister pecked her last night but am brand new to this so I want to make sure it’s nothing more than that and what I can do to help her!

I would catch her or tempt her with some treat, and hold her in your lap applying a warm wet wash cloth to her eye for a few minutes to moisten the crust and blood on her eye. The clean it and put the ointment into it. Is she still running around with the other chickens? I would separate her in a dog crate where she can see them but not be pecked. Is she scratching at her own eye? With her eye glued shut by the drainage, she won’t be able to see her food and get around.
Make sure you use stuff that is formulated specifically for the eye. When my chickens I got pecked, it got infected and I had to bring her to the vet and put her on antibiotics and use some antibiotic drops that the vet gave me.This morning my girls’ eye is crusted shut, I tried to rinse it with saline so she could open it but she wouldn’t stay still long enough for me to soak it that good. Is there more I should do or just continue to watch/rinse/antibiotic cream? (Her other eye is still ok)
