For the last couple weeks one of my light sussex pullets has been laying eggs with a significant amount of blood on the egg shell.
Her first eggs where fine.
I inspected her vent area, there are no external injuries as far as I could see.
Is this something to be concerned about?

I've seen this before and it's usually because of mites - but not always. Did you see any crusty looking/black scabby skin around her vent area at all? Usually there is a significant issue when mites are causing blood like that, though. You should be able to see something going on.

I do remember having a few hens where it wasn't mites, and I couldn't find any reason for it. I can't remember it continuing to be a problem, so it must have resolved on its own. Sorry my answer is so vague. Hopefully someone else will respond with a better answer as to specifically what might be causing it.

Please help!!! My poor FAVUCANA is passing blood on her eggs. I'm worried about her .She will be a year old in June. So she has been laying since the fall. This just recently started .
