I'm a little bit panicked right now, we haven't had coccidia before if that even is what this is. I'm going into an hour long work meeting so I can't go get anything right this moment but once it's done I'm running to the nearest feed store or pet store, wherever I can get some little medication for these guys. They're about 2-3 weeks old and have been fine, today I go in and theres 3-4 little piles of red in the bedding. One of the babies seems a bit sad/weak/lethargic, but I know we have to treat the bunch. I did not see any injuries that were obvious and would correlate with the piles of bloody. Thank you in advance, I was only able to find stuff regarding chickens

Hello, just a thought but, have you changed the birds feed recently? Sometimes a change in food can change the colour of their droppings. If not then it should be quite easy to find medicated starter crumbs. It appear all chick starter crumb in the UK has Avatec 150g, hopefully your store will have some. Good luck, I hope your lethargic chock brightens up.

It's hard to get a photo with the white flash vs the yellow heat lamp light but it's 100% blood not a cecal. I'm not sure what spurred this on, they just moved to a new enclosure but I made sure to wash everything the best I could. I'm heading out now to the feedstore to see what they have in stock, I cleaned out the bloody poop and threw it away. She's still got a little pep in her step but she's obviously the one when you watch them for a a moment. I'll also grab some medicated feed, that's on me I should have started them with that, but we have never had coccidia here in all of the years of having chickens pigeons & quail, so a couple years ago we just went to non medicated and I became compliant in the safety, I should have just kept buying medicated 😭

Don't second guess yourself on the medicated feed. I had heard that the medicated feed wasn't great for quail, and while my experience is more anectdotal than scientific, when the starter feed that I was buying started adding medication (and I didn't notice at first) I realized that it might well have been the cause of the unusually high mortality rate in my chicks.

I grabbed a bag of chick feed with 30% protein instead of our 28% to maybe help give them a little boost. Will give some egg yolk today too probably unless you guys think it'd be a bad idea/too much change. I got corid, I'm dosing it out now, hopefully these little guys recover fast. Should I do a complete bedding change? They have only been in this new enclosure/new bedding for about 1.5 days so it's fairly clean but I know in times of germs eugh
